Kenny Gillet is on the verge of signing for Barnet after Paul Fairclough offered him a contract.

21 year old Gillet is the left-back competition Fairclough wants for Nicky Nicolau this season after the Caen defender impressed on trial.

Introduced by friend Gael Clichy, a friend of Gillets’ and knows Fairclough from his days when he worked under Arsene Wenger, Gillet played 45 minutes against St Albans and also against Watford on Tuesday and Thursday last week.

Since those friendlies, Gillet returned to France so he missed Barnet’s final pre-season friendly at Histon but now he could be spending a lot more time in England if he decides to accept Fairclough’s offer.

From his City performance, Gillet showed fans he has a good left-foot and looked very comfortable on the ball.
