Neal Bishop’s thoughts ahead of the new season…

New summer signing Neal Bishop has revealed he is settling well in London following his move from York and is relishing the opportunity for League football for the first time in his career.

Bishop has been a regular starting central midfield for the Bees in pre-season and has struck up a good partnership with another new signing, Michael Leary in the friendlies for the last month. And Bishop has said he is enjoying his new centre-of-the-park relationship with Leary.

‘He’s (Leary) a great player to play with. He can cover your back and hopefully I’ll do the same for him,’ he told BBC London Radio. ‘His qualities are there, he’s played so many league games and he’s a good player to play with.’

Bishop is set to make his competative debut for the Bees at Christie Park against Morecambe on Saturday in the League opener. Morecambe is a team Bishop remembers only too well, for the wrong reasons: his York side lost to the Football League debutants in the Play-Off Final at the New Wembley in May having gone 1-0 ahead and Bishop said, ‘hopefully there’s a bit of revenge I can do my old mates a favour and put one over on them.’
