Barnet’s League 2 season continued with a defeat against Portsmouth at Fratton Park on Saturday.

Having taken the lead through Yiadom (25) Barnet were pegged back by Chaplin (37) before half time.

With Barnet looking for an offside flag, which never came, McGurk (54) got in to give Portsmouth the lead early in the second half with Bees ‘keeper Stephens sent off for a professional foul with Chaplin (90) completing a three-one Pompey win in injury-time.

These were the match highlights.

The other results at the weekend were as follows:-

Saturday 12th September
Bristol Rovers 0-1 Accrington
Cambridge 1-1 Leyton Orient
Carlisle 2-1 Dag & Red
Exeter 1-0 Hartlepool
Mansfield 4-0 Crawley
Newport 1-2 Morecambe
Northampton 1-0 Oxford Utd
Notts County 3-2 Luton
Portsmouth 3-1 Barnet
Stevenage 2-2 York
Wycombe 1-2 Plymouth
Yeovil 1-1 Wimbledon

Looking at these results the stand out ones have to be the wins for Northampton, Notts County and Plymouth.

Northampton’s win against Oxford, in itself, isn’t that ‘stand out’ as such but given the form both had been in during recent weeks, the Cobblers had suffered a string or defeats with Oxford up to fourth heading into the weekend, the one-nil win Wilder secured against his former side is a good one.

Both Notts County and Luton have struggled in the early weeks of the season, with County responded well to a four-one trashing by Morecambe last time round to edge out the Hatters three-two in a five-goal thriller at Meadow Lane.

An early season promotion battle of a game saw Plymouth edge out Wycombe at Adams Park with the Chairboys suffering a rare defeat as the Pilgrims moved up to second behind Leyton Orient with this two-one win.
