Birchall and Nicolau may be going as well
At the Player of the Year Awards all players with shirt sponsors attended or tried to attend, with poor Max Porter’s car breaking down on the way to the event. All that is, except Neal Bishop, Adam Birchall and Nicky Nicolau. With Bishop already having stated his desire to leave the concern of Barnet fans is that Nicolau and Birchall, who are both out of contract, and in Nicky’s case available on a free, if they choose to leave for pastures new, may be about to join him in heading for the door marked ‘exit’.
This would be a big blow to the club’s hopes of keeping this young and exciting squad together, with Birchall having established himself as a regular with 15 goals this season in all competitions and Nicolau having been expected to become a regular next season on the left wing if Jason Puncheon leaves as assumed.
Bees fans can only hope that this is mere coincidence and with the released list expected out by the end of this week we will soon know the truth.
