Newly relegated Luton Town, considered a major threat for promotion in League 2 next season, have been hit with a major blow already having been deducted 15 points by the Football League for next season after coming out of administration without agreeing a Creditors’ Voluntary Agreement (CVA).
The same punishment befell Leeds United for the same offence at the start of last season but while Leeds have overcome it to be in with a shout of promotion via the play-offs, Luton are not expected to be as free-spending as Leeds were and therefore it would appear that one of the Bees’ principal rivals for next season has already been unrectifiably handicapped with several months to go before the campaign even starts.
