Technically Martin Allen’s third spell as manager, which was lucky as he kept The Bees up, has ended. Although he is keen to stay with Barnet.

Allen’s three game contract ended with him winning two out of three games to keep Barnet in league two and, as he told BBC’s Late Kick-Off, he wants to stay.

Not only does Allen want to stay at Underhill he believes he can get them challenging for promotion next season: ‘I believe it’s possible to get Barnet back into the play-offs and challenging.

‘Last year when I took over at Notts County they were doomed but after getting them safe we rebuilt the squad and the same can be done at Barnet. And that does interest me.

‘I’d like to think there is room for a good challenge to get to League One.’
