Barnet’s attacking options have been boosted further with the Official Website confirming the arrival of experienced former Premier League striker Aaron McLean.

McLean’s been without a club since his release by Bradford at the end of last season but now, most well known from his time with Peterborough and Hull, he’s become a Bee signing a short-term deal.

The 32-year old, like a number of the strikers at the Hive also counts Leyton Orient as a former club as that’s where it all began for him but spells with Grays Athletic, Aldershot Town, then back with Grays are where he started to shine.

It was onto Posh and a prolific time, the rest as they say is history….with McLean ‘buzzing’, I’m sure no pun intended, to join the club and work with Martin Allen.

‘I’m buzzing to have joined Barnet and I just can’t wait to get started. I’m a London lad, so being back in London is brilliant for me.

‘I know a few of the players here already, and then there’s the chance to come and work with Martin Allen.

‘He’s different to a lot of managers; I look at the way he manages and I quite admire him.’

He went onto add that he’ll ‘put himself about in games’ and of course likes ‘to score goals as well!’ McLean’s aiming to ‘get the goals to get us up the league.’

It’s not really worked for McLean, all in all, in a number of years. He’s got proven ability though so perhaps Allen can get the best out of him at the Hive?
