Lawrie Sanchez was left almost speechless following Barnet’s defeat against Crawley on Easter Monday.

The Bees manager could not understand how his side managed to let victory turn into defeat but knows goals win games: ‘you do have to wonder what we’ve got to do to win a football match. I should be crying really, I don’t know what to say. We could have had three or four goals. The front two terrified them but you have to score.

‘Someone said to me football is all about goals, what happens in between doesn’t mean anything, and they’re right. The only thing that counts is the goals and we haven’t got them.

‘Straight after half-time out of nothing they are back into it. Then a speculative shot from 30 yards goes in and you’re thinking how on earth are we 2-1 down?

Barnet now have a crucial game with fellow relegation rivals Hereford next up!

Win that and they will be safe, just about, lose that and they are very much in trouble: ‘everybody else is safe now, it’s between three teams. It will come down to the Hereford game next.’
