Barnet picked up another valuable point on Friday night following a goalless draw at Macclesfield.

Lawrie Sanchez paid tribute to The Bees fans that made the journey: ‘we are better away from home than we are at home.

‘I don’t know why but our small band of fans did brilliantly to travel all this way on a Friday night and they are infectious. It’s hard for the football team, so for the fans it’s very difficult.’

The Barnet manager is looking for this support to drive on his side at Torquay on Friday night if it can.

As for the game he was ‘really pleased with the performance’ and could not fault much of it, of course all that was lacking was a goal: ‘I am really pleased with the performance. I can’t take anything away from it, only a goal would have been so much better. We are consistent in our inconsistency. We are a lot better team away from home than we are at home. We now have to beat Torquay and feed off everything our away fans bring to us.

‘When you see a performance like that you know we can stay up. This was a tough game, Macc will have said ‘they can beat us’, they will have said ‘we can win this one’.

‘It was a great point and a great clean sheet, it was important we didn’t get beat. Teams at the bottom of the league play long balls. They don’t spend too much time on the ball, they just don’t bother with that and they are not easy to play so we were really delighted with the performance.’
