George Sykes, an academy player with Barnet, has signed his first professional contract with the club.

“Hard work” and “determination” has rightly won him this contract according to academy manager James Thorne, as he told the official website: ‘I’m delighted for George and his family.

‘George has worked extremely hard since coming to the club as an Under-16. His work ethic and determination to improve has been the key to his success so far.’

The 18-year-old striker made his debut earlier this season, now a fully-fledged professional Sykes will be looking to build on that first taste of first-team football.
