Paul Fairclough has told supporters that Barnet’s new-look midfield will be better than the one the Bees had last season.
Now that Deano has moved onto pastures new with Charlton Athletic, it leaves Jason Puncheon as the only remaining midfielder from last season’s squad. Fairclough, however, was not concerned about this, after he signed Michael Leary, Ashley Carew, Neal Bishop and Max Porter in midfield this summer.
He said his new midfield for this season, although have only just been formed, will cope better with League Two football and resultantly, the team’s performances will be better.
‘They`ve gone, I`ve moved on…I`m confident that the midfield I`ve produced this season is going to be better and stronger than the one I had last season and that`s no disrespect to Nicky (Bailey) and Dean (Sinclair) because they were player great players, but I`ve got a different type of player that I thinks more suitable for the league this season.’
He said his central midfielders were looking ‘very strong’ and Puncheon is ‘turning everyone’s heads at the moment.’
