Which is something Conor Clifford had always wanted!

If this will happen or not is another matter but the Boreham Wood, and former Barnet fans’ favourite, has once again said he would love to return to the Hive in the future if this is possible?

Clifford, following a successful loan spell from Southend last season and the expectancy that a deal would be done, didn’t sign for Barnet in the summer and eventually ended up with Boreham Wood.

He’s been speaking to the Times-Series recently where he’s not ruling out a future return to the club….if Martin Allen wants him!

‘I don’t really know. It was a bit of a crazy summer. I thought I was going to end up at Barnet. I loved my time there. I spoke to Martin Allen in the summer and I thought there was a good chance of me going there.

‘For one reason or another it didn’t work out. That’s football. You never know. Hopefully, maybe in the future?you never know?I could go back there some time. You never know. Football is strange.

‘I just have to concentrate on doing well for Boreham Wood here and keep these in the league and hopefully, you never know what will happen.’

Any return to Barnet for the 24-year-old, who had trained and turned out for the Bees in pre-season, wouldn’t seem on in the foreseeable future though.

Especially, not that a loan arrival this side of Christmas would have been too likely anyway, after Allen revealed he’s got no plans to move into the transfer market again ahead of the emergency loan window closing next week.

The Barnet boss, also in the Times-Series, whilst also giving an injury update, said.

‘With Shaun Batt available that is like another player. Bira Dembele won’t make this weekend but he’ll be close the weekend after so that is like another new player.

‘Michael Nelson has come into the team and done really well. Tom Champion has come into the team and done really well. Sam Togwell has had a very good attitude on the periphery and he is chomping at the bit to go back in.

‘Nicky Bailey is another player ready to go back in. So it feels like Bailey and Batt are new players ready to join. I don`t think now is the time to ask the chairman for any more players.’
