Paul Fairclough has brought in tall forward Rory May on trial.
Despite being aged 22, the 6’4′ targetman has been at a load of clubs, most recently at Solihull Borough, who play 4 leagues below Barnet. In the early stages of his career, he was with Lincoln City and Tamworth but only made a handful of appearances. Since then, he has been travelling from one non-league club to another in the hope of finally finding somewhere to settle.
At last, in the 2006/07 season, he was Borough’s top scorer with 25 goals in all competitions but he was forced to leave when Borough joined Moor Green to form Solihill Moors FC, with everyone who played for Boro’ being released.
May started up front alongside Adam Birchall against Bishop’s Stortford on Tuesday and put in a decent performance, despite having no clear-cut chances – because Barnet decided to get the ball down and pass it, which to be fair to May, he was comfortable playing in that style and did well; rather than put in crosses for May to head on goal.
