Martin Allen had made it clear another defender arriving would be something he hoped to secure ahead of the weekend, which is exactly what he managed when signing Alie Sesay on a permanent contract.

Sesay was allowed to join Barnet on an 18-month deal from Premier League title (at this stage) contenders Leicester, upon which Allen told the Official Website.

‘Late last night we agreed a deal with Alie Sesay – a young player from Leicester City. He is 21 years old and can play anywhere across the back four or in central midfield. He’s a good player for us to pick up and he’ll be involved straight away with us tomorrow.’

The 21-year-old has been a regular in the Leicester U21 Development side but graduation into the first-team wasn’t likely with this a move that should benefit all concerned going forward.

Sesay does have Football League experience as the Sierra Leone international has a three-match loan spell with Colchester in 2014 and made six appearances for League 2 rivals Cambridge earlier this season.

The club added.

‘Everybody at Barnet FC would like to welcome Alie to the club, and wish him every success while he is at The Hive!’
