Michael Leary should be returning to training in the next fortnight although is he aiming to make a return to competative action in the FA Cup.

Leary, a first-team regular alongside Neal Bishop in the new-look midfield, is on target to make a comeback in mid-January, for the first round of the cup competition that was so good to Barnet last season, following his medial collateral ligament injury he sustained against Brentford.

That was just four games into the season, and there was relief it wasn’t anything more serious as he was strechered off but Leary is now progressing well in his rehabilitation programme and physio Mark Stein told Barnet’s website he is ‘ahead of schedule’ as he aims for a return to action as soon as possible.

Meanwhile Josh Wright, a replacement taken in on loan from Charlton to cover his loss, is expected to sign a longer loan deal with the Bees having only initially arrived for one month, after he impressed in the games he’s played in so far, which included his first professional start in his career.
