Barnet’s run in this seasons Carling Cup came to an end on Tuesday, although they ran championship outfit Burnley close after beating Portsmouth in round 1.

The reward for knocking out one championship side was a meeting, again away from Underhill, against Burnley and they went into the half time break 1-0 up thanks to Rodriguez (38).

The lead was doubled just after the break when Elliott (64) scored again for the hosts.

Kabba (73), making his return from injury, got Barnet back into the game and an injury-time goal from Holmes (90+3) forced the tie into extra time…

The Bees could not force another upset though as a goal from McCann (105) on the stroke of half time in extra time saw Burnley through to round 3 with a 3-2 win.
