Paul Fairclough will be without Kenny Gillet for two months with a metatarsal injury.

It comes as a big blow for the Bees, who have gone on a good recent run of form, having picked up 8 points from a possible 12, and conceding just twice, with Gillet being a key part of the defense.

He has impressed ever since his move from Caen, having immediately claimed the left-back slot from Nicky Nicolau thanks to his good defensive instincts along with attacking attributes such as crossing and distribution.

Concern originally came when he had to be replaced at half-time at Chesterfield on Saturday and a scan has now revealed the worst. Nicolau will step in as replacement but there’s no doubt the on-the-pitch results will suffer from the loss of Gillet, who has been excellent since coming in.

But it’s not all doom and gloom, ironically Nicolau was the man to provide the cross for Jason Norville to score against the high-fliers this week, so we may still gather some good results in the next eight weeks whilst a player who is turning into one of Barnet’s most important ones, watches from the stands.
