Martin Allen has revealed to the Times-Series an injury, before his sending off recently, looks likely to keep Jamie Stephens out this weekend.

Meaning loanee Max Crocombe is set to continue in goal? Allen had been looking to bring in Darryl Flahavan but a deal couldn’t agreed so he turned to New Zealand born Crocombe, who helped Barnet to victory on his debut!

Having failed to agree a deal with former Southend, Leeds and Bournemouth ‘keeper Flahavan the Barnet attention turned to Crocombe. After his Stevenage debut he could face Dagenham too?

Stephen was signed as cover for no.1 Graham Stack but with the player-coach sidelined Stephen’s stepped up, however he was sent off in the defeat against Portsmouth so Barnet boss Allen turned to Crocombe, who looks set to continue this weekend after his debut in a three-two win over Teddy Sheringham’s Stevenage as the Bees boss has confirmed his ‘keeper was injured ahead of the Pompey defeat anyway!

‘He (Stephens) was injured before the Portsmouth game but we played at Portsmouth with that injury but I had to keep that quiet.

‘He has got a slight groin strain – that is all it is at the moment – so he will be fine.

‘Obviously we needed a goalkeeper with Jamie suspended and now Jamie has also got an injury so we are snookered on that one at the moment.’

Crocombe might have been beaten twice on his debut but as this came in a win he, and more importantly we’ll, accept this as we would against Wayne Burnett’s Dagenham too if it means we win against the Daggers!
