Sometimes you have to do what you have to do, and Sam Cowler has done just that.

The Barnet keeper yesterday parted company with Barnet after it was agreed he was free to leave in order to try and get himself some first-team football elsewhere, which he wasn’t going to get at the Hive.

Cowler wrote on his Twitter account: ‘My last day as a @BarnetFC player. Was a difficult decision to make but at the end of the day as a footballer I want to play games…

‘I thank the club for respecting my decision. Some brilliant people at the club and I wish all the players the success they deserve #bees.’

It’s not really worked out for Cowler with Barnet with him making just three appearances since his arrival from West Ham, and with Graham Stack the undisputed no.1 not much would change for the 20-year-old in the years ahead so a parting is best for all.
