Barnet might have had the better of a large slice of the game against Morecambe at the weekend but they still suffered defeat.

Mark Hughes knows that this defeat needs to be quickly put behind The Bees with a huge game against Dagenham coming up on Tuesday night: ‘at 2-0, we let our heads drop and we can’t be doing that the position we’re in. We’ve got a real six-pointer on Tuesday night and we’ve just got to put this result behind us.

‘They’ve got experienced pros and they just saw the game out and slowed the play down.’

The Barnet captain was hoping that his side would come back from a goal down, as they had in their previous game but missed chances prevented this with a soft goal conceded to confirm defeat: ‘we missed too many chances in the first half, but we can’t make excuses, we came back from 1-0 down last week and we could have done it again, but it just wasn’t to be.

‘The lads were really frustrated to be behind at half-time, but then we conceded another sloppy goal.’
