Andy Hessenthaler has responded to speculation linking him to the vacant managers job at Barnet.

Hessenthaler, who played for Barnet in the twilight of his career, has been linked with a return to the club following Paul Fairclough’s departure but insists that he is happy in his role as manager of Dover: ‘I’m an ex-player so I’m going to get speculation but I’m enjoying what I’m doing at the present time,’ Hessenthaler told BBC Radio Kent. ‘Like I’ve said before when there’s been speculation about jobs, I’m doing a job at this football club and enjoying it.

‘It’s disappointing that Paul’s gone, he’s been there a long time and has done very well for them.

‘But they felt they needed a change as things aren’t going very well for them. but who knows who’ll come in there.’

Hessenthaler guided Dover to promotion from the Ryman South last season, his first with the club, and they currently sit 17 points clear at the top of the Ryman Premier this season.
