Paul Fairclough has hailed the ‘awesome’ 480 Bees fans who sang positively all through the Bees’ humiliating 5-2 defeat at Norwich.

It was a night fans would want to forget in terms of the performance on the pitch but they themselves made it a night to remember for players and the manager alike this time, that despite Barnet being 5-0 down for much of the match, felt ‘proud’ in the black and amber shirts that they could call the Bees’ fans, their supporters.

‘My wonderful supporters, they made me feel so proud tonight and to be manager of this club. To see their reaction and the end of that game, they could’ve walked out waving white towels over their heads like they do at some clubs, not this lot,’ an emotional Fairclough told BBC London Radio.

‘Our supporters were just awesome, fantastic,’ he reiterated. ‘They could’ve easily turned on the side, they could’ve easily turned on me and they were fantastic and I believe they had a lot to play in this tonight.’

‘They were determined to stay with the lads all the way and the players responded with an excellent second half performance,’ as the players clawed back 2 goals to set the scored at 5 goals to 2.
