Barnet have followed up the appointment of Dutch legend Edgar Davids last week by bringing in his countryman Ulrich Landvreugd.

He, a former Ipswich player during his playing days and coach at Ajax, will act as an assistant coach and work alongside Kenny Brown with The Bees’ U21 development squad.

Academy manager James Thorn, as he told the official website, had this to say on Landvreugd’s appointment: ‘I am delighted to welcome Uli as part of our coaching team here at Barnet FC.

‘This is as a result of our recently achieved status as a Category Two Academy, the only one in League Two, which requires the formation of a separate Under-21 squad and an increase in contact time across all age groups.

‘The requirement for well-qualified, experienced coaching staff is essential and we are searching Europe to find the best available to help educate and develop our young players.’

This appears to be another step in the right direction for Barnet, now for them to start the improvements, and moves up the table, on the field to match those off it!
