Martin Allen hasn’t been willing to confirm or deny Michael Nelson has signed for the Bees, however a report in the Times-Series has them of the understanding a deal has already been signed….

Nelson, formerly with the likes of Scunthorpe, Hartlepool and Norwich, was most recently captain at Cambridge. Despite Allen’s reluctance the 35-year-old is thought to have signed for Barnet with the vastly experienced defender continuing his long career at the Hive this season.

‘The Admiral’, which unsurprisingly he is known as, was again involved for the Bees in the three-one win over MK Dons on Saturday, he’s been a regular in pre-season since arriving for training.

Questioned on his impending arrival Allen said ‘Nels is’ and then he stopped to pause before adding.

‘We will have to wait and see.’

Allen was questioned further before continuing.

‘I don’t know (whether it is done or not), I am not sure what the chairman has sorted out with his agent. We will have to wait and see over the next week.’

Why a deal, which the ‘Times Series understands a deal for Nelson has already been in place for some time’, isn’t being revealed isn’t clear but it seems this is a done deal?!
