Martin Allen has confirmed former Arsenal defender Gavin Hoyte, despite being transfer-listed, isn’t leaving Barnet yet with him also raving about former Reading youngster Hakeem Odofin!

Hoyte was made available for loan recently, following which he wasn’t included in the squad to face Exeter but with Bira Dembele injured he came back into the squad, and came on, for the FA Cup win over Blackpool on Saturday.

When he came on he, curiously enough, replaced Sam Muggleton, who like Dembele was supposedly sidelined for a number of week due to injury!

Allen’s told the Times-Series he’s had no interest in the 25-year-old Hoyte as yet but with Dembele sidelined he’ll not be going anywhere just yet.

‘We’ll have to wait and see. Bira is injured at the moment, so he can’t go out anyway.

Dembele faces up to five-weeks on the sidelines but Allen said he wouldn’t be bringing in a loan replacement.

The Bees boss doesn’t feel he needs to with Odofin waiting in the wings!

17-year-old Odofin is rated extremely highly and, with him unlucky not to have been involved already after being an unused sub twice this season, expected to feature soon.

Not that Allen feels he’ll be with Barnet for long!

‘I’ve also got a young player here called Hakeem Odofin. You wait until you see him play. Oh my God, you just wait until you see that kid play

‘You will get the chance to see him play soon. It won’t be for long because he won’t be playing at Barnet for long because he will be a top player and he’s probably unfortunate he’s not in our team now.

‘I knew a little bit about him but he’s been training with us for the past few weeks and he’s a fantastic young player.’
