Martin Allen’s looked at various players recently, with a number turning out in a friendly with Brentford last week but it, at this stage, turned out that it was a Brentford player that’s ended up with Barnet with Josh Clarke coming in on loan.

Going into the weekend the Official Website confirmed his arrival on loan until January.

Clarke, who has made four appearances for Brentford this season and seven first-team outings in total for the Championship side, will be on loan with Barnet until 3rd January.

The 21-year-old is a midfielder but he can also play at right back, with this how Barnet have described him so Bees boss Allen is perhaps looking to use him primarily in this role with his loan services secured ahead of the three-one win over York at the Hive on Saturday.

Obviously, in terms of playing Championship level this is a step down to League 2 with Barnet but first-team football is what he needs and the Bees will give him this. Like he’s had in previous loan spell with Maidenhead, Braintree, Dagenham and Stevenage, so he’s familiar with this level, a level below and levels higher.

He couldn’t have made a better debut with him helping Barnet to a win over York and scoring in injury-time to seal the three-one win!
