Barnet have been given a bye in the First Round of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.
It means Barnet will have a weekday free for extra training instead of competition in the week following 3rd September and will instead enter the competition in the week commencing 8th October, in the Second Round.
The only change from last season’s competition is that the second round will be sub-divided meaning Barnet will not have to travel too far if they are given an away trip.
Barnet will be needing five victories in this competition to reach the final at Wembley; six wins to lift the cup. Barnet will be missing out on possible, although probably minimal, prize fund for reaching the second round had they not been handed a bye, if the competition works in the way prize-per-win format, although if clubs are given their prize at the stage at which they leave the competition then it makes no difference to the prize fund Barnet will be leaving the Cup competition with.
Either way, Barnet will be very glad at being handed a bye.
