Result: Port Vale 3-0 Barnet

Barnet followed up their Capital One Cup drubbing, and exit, with another heavy defeat at Port Vale as the 2012/13 league one season kicked-off.

Port Vale got off to a flyer at Vale Park; goals from Louis Dodds (8) and a penalty from Jennison Myrie-Williams (20) had them very much in control by the midway point of the first-half.

The Bees were unable to mount a comeback at all with the hosts finally securing the points, beyond a doubt, when Tom Pope (75) made it 3-0 towards the end of the game.

It’s been a poor start to the season by Barnet, if this is a sign of things to come The Bees are in for another long old season…
