The special centenary-marking Barnet kit for the 2007/08 season has been launched by the club.

The kit is a modern replica of the one worn 100 years ago featuring the ‘old gold and black’ stripes on the home shirt. The shirt comes in long-sleeves only which has come under some criticism from supporters who want to buy short-sleeved versions and are concerned for the players who may be forced to wear the long-sleeved shirts in hot weather.

The Barnet players will parade the kit during the commemerative match against Crystal Palace this afternoon for the first time this season.

Like last season, the shirt is manufactured by the trendy brand Hummel, and contains an HTCS system uniqute to Hummel which helps control body temperature when the shirt is being worn, which may be the reason why only the long-sleeved version is going on sale and/or being worn by the players.

The shirt also contains the ‘grandad-style collar,’ as well as, of course, the sponsor’s (Mortgage Express) logo centrally on the front of the shirt.

The away kit has Blue & White stripes. The home kit is now available to supporters to buy whilst the away kit is launched a few days before the start of the season – on Tuesday 7 August.
