Barnet’s return to the Football League ended in defeat at Orient on Saturday however Martin Allen wasn’t downbeat at all was he? Far from it with him chipper enough when he appeared on the new Football League review on Channel 5, with the show having a few ‘hitches’ you could say itself!

On that defeat he told the Official Website.

‘I thought we played well – We had four good chances in the first half. If they’d gone in, you’d like to think that it would have been a different result.

‘Fair play to Leyton Orient, they came back in the second half and got into the game. I think that in the second half they had two chances and got two goals.

‘Overall I’d say it’s a massive step up from 16 months ago when I first got to Barnet.’

Next up it’s a return to the League Cup too for Barnet with a first round tie in the Capital One Cup awaiting tonight.

The Bees travel to Millwall with Allen saying he’ll be looking to ‘freshen things up’ player wise following the two-nil defeat at Leyton Orient on Saturday.

Shaun Batt, if he overcomes a tight calf, could face a former side however Allen doesn’t have any new injuries to worry about, he said.

‘There are no new injuries, apart from Shaun Batt who had a tight calf when he was warming up.

‘I’ll make changes to the team on Tuesday night and freshen it up.

‘Some players deserve to play, after what has been a fantastic pre-season for us.’
