Martin Allen, who replaced Lawrie Sanchez on Monday, isn’t exactly likely to be welcomed back to Barnet with ‘open arms’ by all Bees fans is he?

His decision to walk out on Barnet just three games into an eight-game contract last season to takeover at Notts County would have angered, to say the least, many people!

Allen, as he told BBC London 94.9, appreciates that his actions would have ‘upset’ people and has moved to try to defend his action: ‘I can understand the supporters were upset last year. It was a very, very difficult decision to leave.

‘For the people who’ve criticised me, Barnet is the love of their life. For managers, it’s a job. If better offers come along, generally people take them.

‘The public have a general conception if you’re a football manager then you’re absolutely minted – I’m not.’

Ensuring that Barnet avoid relegation from league two will start to mend some bridges at least!
